|Social impairment is the defining feature for students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Students with ASD often lack the desire for social contact and have an inability to relate or understand the feelings/perspective of others. There is a great need for social skill intervention to be implemented into the lives of students with ASD. Without it they have a greater chance of becoming rejected and socially isolated early in life. This thesis reviews the social needs of middle school students with ASD.
