The outcomes of a 12-week social skills program that had been implemented in various Head Start programs were compared to the outcomes of a 24-week program. The differences in scores between preschool-age externalizers and internalizers from pre- to posttest on the Early Screening Project (ESP) questionnaires were examined. The length of the social skills training program made no difference on the overall posttest scores for both externalizers and internalizers. Also, internalizers scored significantly better than externalizers scored at posttesting. Discussion focuses on the need for more research on the number of social skills training sessions and the outcomes of the programs on preschool-age students attending Head Start programs.
